        Point Spread’s aftermarket Camera Monitor System (CMS) is an integrated AI-enabled vision solution for the passenger-vehicle aftermarket. Two ≥1080p Full HD cameras with IP67 protection and a 5G+1IR lens configuration, together with two 6-inch, wide-temperature, fully laminated high-brightness displays, replace the indirect-vision function of conventional optical rearview mirrors. The system supports High Dynamic Range (HDR), ROI Dewarping, Glass-to-Glass system latency averaging ≤55 ms and reaching a minimum of ≤45 ms, and active-safety features including Blind Spot Detection (BSD) and Door Open Warning (DOW). Installation uses external brackets or non-destructive replacement of original vehicle components, with no drilling or body-panel openings required. It preserves the vehicle’s original styling and supports retrofit and optional-equipment programs for mainstream passenger vehicles.

      • What Is a Camera Monitor System (CMS)?

        A Camera Monitor System (CMS) uses cameras and in-vehicle displays to replace conventional optical rearview mirrors and provide the driver with indirect vision. Compared with an optical mirror, CMS can use High Dynamic Range (HDR) processing to improve visibility in challenging lighting such as strong backlight and nighttime scenes. It can also overlay active-safety alerts including Blind Spot Detection (BSD) and Door Open Warning (DOW), advancing the Indirect Vision System from basic visibility to clearer imaging and proactive warnings.

        Point Spread’s aftermarket Camera Monitor System (CMS) is designed for passenger-vehicle retrofit and optional-equipment markets. Cameras are installed at the left and right exterior-mirror positions, while the display assemblies are mounted at the driver- and passenger-side A-pillar triangle windows. Installation uses external brackets or non-destructive replacement of original vehicle components, requires no drilling, and preserves the vehicle’s original styling.

        The product is designed with reference to OEM-level electronic-component test standards such as VW80000 and TL81000, and regulatory requirements for indirect-vision devices such as GB 15084 and ECE R46. Final certification status is subject to official test reports.

        Blind Spot Detection (BSD)

        Detects vehicles in adjacent areas during both straight-line driving and right turns and issues a warning. The function supports manual on/off control, with system response time ≤300 ms from the target vehicle entering the monitored area to warning activation.

        Reverse-View Tilt (Mirror Dip)

        Shifting into reverse or pressing the manual control switches to a wide-angle view. The image shifts inward and downward toward the rear wheel area, helping the driver judge wheel position while

        Door Open Warning (DOW)

        Triggers a warning when time to collision (TTC) is <1.5 s. Both the missed-detection rate and false-alarm rate are <5%, providing alerts for pedestrians or vehicles approaching from behind.

        Corrects distortion in the region of interest (ROI), keeping TV distortion below 5% to preserve usable image quality at the frame edges.

        High Dynamic Range (HDR)

        The sensor supports a single-exposure dynamic range of at least 87 dB, addressing high-contrast scenes such as tunnel entrances and strong backlight.

        Automatic Brightness Adjustment and Lens-Contamination Detection

        An ambient-light sensor detects illumination and automatically adjusts display brightness. The system also detects contamination on the camera lens.

        Driver Touchscreen Control

        Supports three field-of-view levels, multiple brightness levels, and manual on/off control for AI functions. The left and right controllers coordinate through CAN communication, while the left touchscreen can adjust the view on both sides.

        System Startup, Self-Diagnostics, and Monitoring

        Cold-start time is <2.5 s. The system performs automatic checks at startup and monitors critical power rails, PoC power short/open circuits, serializer and sensor accessibility, and video-stream status during operation. Faults can be logged and retrieved.

        A functional-safety-compatible MCU provides control and status monitoring. Each functional module responds within ≤300 ms, with no system freezes or stuttering.
